Volvo plans launch of SUV XC60 in India in 2009

In the ongoing Geneva Motor Show, Volvo made known its decision to launch its sports utility vehicle XC60 in India in 2009.After the launch of VOLVO XC60 SUV in Europe and the launch of SUV XC90 in Indian market the Swedish luxury car maker Volvo plans to bring VOLVO XC60 SUV in Indian market in 2009.Volvo car India managing director Paul de Voijs said “With the launch of Volvo XC60 in India we will be broadening our model range to attract more customers with an active, urban lifestyle,” he also added that Volvo car India is working on bringing all in six new models in Indian market and these new planned models are: V50, V70, C30, C70, XC60 and XC70.

The Volvo XC60 takes the SUV of the Year at the magazine’s prestigious 2009. What Car? Awards and the editor of UK Magazine group appreciated it by saying that “Volvo is renowned for two things - making some of the world’s most family-friendly cars, and some of the safest and the XC60 reinforces that reputation”.

The judges were rather impressed with its comfort, durability, safety and class-leading refinement. Safety is the key quality of any Volvo and the XC60 is no different. With the seating capacity of five it has the safety technology “city safety”, the seats are rear as they gets folded and gives you flat load space. During the first half of 2009, the driveline range will be expanded with the introduction of a front-wheel drive version of the 2.4D, upgraded to produce 175 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque and CO2 emissions of less than 170 g/km. It has 2.4 litre diesel engine, Currently it has a choice of a six-cylinder turbocharged T6 engine as well as two five-cylinder turbodiesels.Volvo XC60 has commitment in reducing the CO2 emissions.
