SUV Review - Toyota Venza 2009-2010

TOYOTA VENZA SUV reviewed before was something different and was not providing all the latest technologies as the company didn’t include a USB port for MP3 players even analog auxiliary jack was standard and you had to upgrade to a more expensive stereo for Bluetooth streaming audio.

Then Toyota came in with the 2010 Prius SUV, the third-generation 2010 Prius was one of the most significant SUVs to debut at the 2009 Detroit auto show. The race for king of the hybrid car segment is on. Toyota Prius SUV will be on sale this May. It has an EPA combined fuel economy rating of 50 mpg, making it far and away the most fuel-efficient car out there.

The Toyota, SUV division has provided with new Prius’ Eco mode, the company says it adjusts the throttle and air conditioning to make the car more efficient. The Prius also features an all-electric EV mode, a Power mode for more-spirited acceleration, and a standard driving mode, which is the mode the EPA tested.

Every Prius SUV comes standard with steering wheel mounted buttons that control the stereo, climate and display functions for the hybrid system. But here is something different which makes 2010 Prius special one and that is the Touch Tracer Display. The Touch Tracer display is standard on all 2010 Toyota Prius trim levels. What the Touch Tracer display does is it pops up a digital overlay on the center-mounted gauges showing what button your finger is on before you press it down to make your selection.

Toyota’s diligent PR department says that there are trim level names to help SUV consumers decide which Prius is right for them, they’re just not the same as the previous generation’s Standard, and instead they are using Roman numerals.

Any one might get impressed with the utility and interior refinement of the car. Prius is the car that fits five people comfortably and is loaded with all the latest technologies. This Prius is also known as base model Prius I that the company has introduced and there are other models the Prius II and Prius V which will go on sale in late May, will also start at cheaper prices than the 2009. The Prius will start at $21,000, Prius II will start at $22,000, Prius V, however, gets costly, starting at $27,270. All the prices are exclusive of destination charges which is $750. There are also new options, like a Solar Roof Package, that have also been priced.

A Japanese business daily is reporting Toyota will fire back by developing its own cheap hybrid. Toyota’s goals for the vehicle are to keep the price 20% to 30% cheaper than the Prius, and to get the car to market by 2011. Toyota presumably wants the SUV vehicle to come in below $19,800.

  • Having seen this vehicle first hand at an auto show I was blown away by the giant leap forward Suzuki has taken in quality and refinement. This vehicle easily competes with Toyota and Honda hands down. Now if only Suzuki can get away from the Korean made vehicles and start importing it's own JDM models like the Swift. Subaru was in the same boat with cars not quite up to the standards of Honda or Toyota but now look at them. Legacy, Tribeca and soon to come next gen. Impreza. Soon all the Japanese manufactures will be considered 1st tier.
