 A labor strike at Yoosung Enterprise crippled Hyundai’s production of SUVs and diesel engines this week. Yoosung is a South Korean manufacturer which provides 70% of the piston rings used in vehicles made by Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors. Workers at Yoosung Enterprise started a walkout on May 18 after the management and the labor union failed to agree on working conditions and wages. Yoosung is manufacturer of key engine parts such as piston rings, cylinder liners and camshafts which they provide to Hyundai, Kia, GM Korea, Renault Samsung Motors and Sangyong Motor.  After several years when the Section University and Research Institution Archives (ICA/SUV) held its annual mid-year Section Bureau and strategy meeting the Section Bureau has hold its 2011 meeting at the Paris offices of the ICA Secretariat. This provided an opportunity to all to know the ICA staff members.  Nissan has announced a voluntary recall on choose Frontier and Xterra models as a result of problems with the lower steering column joint and shaft, plus problems with the Sentra sedan for the positive battery cable terminal. Just below 605,000 vehicles are influenced by this recall. Almost 303,000 Frontiers and 283,000 Xterras in the United States, Canada and several Latin American countries have been affected. This problem was recently discovered by Nissan that in certain unusual instances, the lower steering column joint on the affected Frontier and Xterra vehicles can build up corrosion that restricts the movement of the joint.  Mitsubishi will increase its MiEV (Mitsubishi innovative electric vehicle) lineup by adding a plug-in hybrid SUV in 2013. The plug-in hybrid SUV is inspired by the Px-MiEV concept car that made its first seen at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. The company has been working on this Hybrid SUV and has already reached higher development stages.  As confirmed by the Toyota representatives that the Lexus CT 200h, a premium hybrid five-door hatchback, is coming to the United States. The Lexus CT 200h supposedly will be Lexus’s very first compact car, and their first compact hybrid sold by Toyota in United States of America.  The all-new Ford Explorer has been turning heads with its noticeable, up to date design, and things will be very similar when it hits the floor of the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show this year, which will be held in Las Vegas this month.  Rumors of a possible newborn Cayenne model have been circulating extensively nowadays, and finally it looks like a compact Porsche SUV may make it to the Auto market under the name of the Porsche Cajun. The SUV will share its mechanical base with the Audi Q5, similar to the Cayenne’s strong resemblances with the Volkswagen Touareg.
