 Within 2-3 years Indian car market will get a new mini SUV by Mahindra which is codenamed as S101. Mahindra has been working on the S101 from past one year and now the project is at the styling and customer research stage while the techno-commercial viability has to be established.  The largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd and Ssangyong Motor Co. Ltd will soon begin with their work on a sport utility vehicle. The South Korean automobile giant Ssangyong Motor Co. well known for its SUVs was acquired by M&M in February 2011; now they will begin with their first joint product that will hit the Indian market in two-three years.  Mahindra goes up market with its newly launched seven-seater XUV500 and Genio one-ton bakkie range. Both of these are on display at the Johannesburg International Motor Show from 6th to 16th of October.  Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., the India’s biggest sport utility vehicle maker by sales, has officially named their yet to be launched World SUV W201 as XUV500. Mahindra said it will target Western Europe, Latin America, Africa, Australia and Southeast Asia with its new global SUV. The XUV500 will be introduced by the end of December.  Three years ago, Tata Motors the country’s third largest car maker had witnessed an overwhelming response for its Indigo when it sliced the size of the sedan to make it cheaper. The Indigo CS from the Tata Motors became one of largest selling models during its initial months, thanks to the lower duties it attracted. Mumbai, October 9: Cashing in on the growing fad for green vehicles, Mahindra & Mahindra plans to launch its fuel-efficient SUVs in the United States by early 2009. “We are planning to launch our commercial vehicles in the United States but we are not ready yet to share the exact date of launch,” Mahindra Group Vice-Chairman Anand Mahindra said in Mumbai.
