 The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating nearly 400,000 Jeep Liberty SUVs built between 2002 and 2003 over a concern of premature deployment of airbags. NHTSA said preliminary investigation is the first step in a process which can lead to a recall.  China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) have suspended the importation of the Jeep Wrangler as a result of a series of car fires. As per the reports by Car News China the Agency’s investigation proved the fires resulted from issues with the automatic transmission and systems tied to the transmission.
