This technology is applied not only to get rid of the unpleasant engine noises but also to give the Chevrolet Equinox segment-leading fuel economy. GM will retool and upgrade the Arlington plant so it can build the next generation of full-size SUVs. The company said they plan to invest $69 million and add about 2,500 jobs at its Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant to build the next-generation Chevrolet Impala large sedan and other cars. The initial December recall of 1,262 US motor vehicles now comprises 26,751 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV and Cadillac EXT; Chevrolet’s Avalanche, Colorado, Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe; in addition to GMC’s Canyon, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL, GM stated on Saturday. DETROIT — General Motors Corporation is preparing to launch a public bond-exchange offer to wipe out most of its $28 billion unsecured debt by June 1 to avoid bankruptcy. President Barack Obama gave the company 60 more days to get the concessions it needs.
