US carmaker General Motors has extended a recall of specific 2011 trucks and SUVs to almost 27,000 vehicles over possible problems with the rear axle cross pin. The initial December recall of 1,262 US motor vehicles now comprises 26,751 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV and Cadillac EXT; Chevrolet’s Avalanche, Colorado, Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe; in addition to GMC’s Canyon, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL, GM stated on Saturday.

General Motors are implementing noise-canceling technology in Chevrolet Equinox crossover S.U.V. This technology is applied not only to get rid of the unpleasant engine noises but also to give the Chevrolet Equinox segment-leading fuel economy. Jim Vallance, the noise and Vibration Development Engineer with his colleagues were given a task to get the 2011 Equinox to return a highway fuel economy rating of 32 mpg.
