 Ford said its new Explorer SUV with a gas-saving EcoBoost engine has a fuel-economy rating of 20 miles per gallon in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway. According to the car maker those numbers make it the most fuel-efficient seven-passenger SUV on the market. When the Ford says, Explorer with EcoBoost has class-leading fuel economy it is talking about the class of gasoline-powered SUVs and not hybrid vehicles like the Toyota Highlander hybrid which has a rating of 28 mpg in both city and highway driving.  The all-new 2011 Ford Explorer SUV, which only just went on sale last quarter, is the topic of a recall. In keeping with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Explorers manufactured from July 15 through December 13, 2010, and outfitted with second-row 60/40 seats with manual recliner mechanisms. Seating supplier made available mechanisms that are not as per the measurement specification. Consequently, the center seatbacks could allow movement during forward loading, and not provide the required strength to protect occupants during a collision.  Ford has selected the perfect platform to promote the new generation 2011 Ford Explorer SUVs with no less than three different customization possibilities offered at the 2010 SEMA tuning show in Las Vegas.  Ford has reworked its midsize sport utility vehicle (SUV) for the 2006 model year, dubbing it “the best Explorer ever” and “the most powerful.” Mercury has given its related Mountaineer SUV similar treatment for 2006. In its new form, the 4.6-liter V-8, with three valves per cylinder, generates 292 horsepower — a gain of 53 hp — and drives a new six-speed-automatic transmission.
