That fuel is E85 ethanol.(1) E85 is a mostly renewable fuel source made from U.S.-grown biomaterial, such as corn and other grain products. NHTSA simulated the crash test by simulating a scenario where a passenger car strikes the driver’s side a 38 miles per hour. The inertia caused by the strike caused the Chevrolet Suburban to land on its side. Ideally, the SUV vehicle should only skid on the four wheels and should not topple.
