GMC aims this SUV at a more upscale audience with the Denali luxury edition, which includes leather upholstery and a premium sound system with an in-dash six-CD changer. Half-ton models are labeled Yukon XL 1500, while the Yukon XL 2500 has a three-quarter-ton rating. gmc1 GMC revived the Envoy name for 2002 on a brand-new midsize SUV model related to the Chevrolet Trailblazer. For 2006, V-8-equipped Envoys gain Displacement on Demand technology to improve fuel economy. The system was previously optional. All 2006 models come standard with General Motors’ Stabili-Trak electronic stability system. The regular Envoy’s 4.2-liter inline-six-cylinder engine has slightly more power for 2006, and a 5.3-liter V-8 is still offered for Denali models.
