G.M. Is ‘Urgently’ Trying to Sell HummerGeneral Motors plans to have inked a deal to sell its Hummer brand by early 2009, the automaker’s chief operating officer Fritz Henderson said Wednesday. Speaking to reporters in India, Mr. Fritz Henderson said the Hummer auction is being conducted “on an urgent basis.” He also said a deal by the end of the year is possible, while noting that “if it takes us to early next year, that is OK, too.” G.M. is trying unload Hummer, as high-fuel costs have reduced demand for gaz-gazzling sports utility vehicles. G.M.’s chief executive said last month that it has received initial expressions of interest from potential buyers that it hopes to develop into formal sale talks. Image courtesy: www.businessweek.com
