The French automaker Renault choose India as its export hubThe French automaker launched its new sports utility vehicle - the Koleos in India. After the launching of Fluence, the Koleos is second in the row. The new Renault Koleos comes with a 2 liter diesel engine which gives a maximum power output of 150PS at 4000rpm and peak torque of 320Nm at 2000rpm. The car is built on a 4×4 platform available with six-speed automatic gear box and having high class technology, performance, safety and comfort. The managing director of Renault India, Marc Nassif said, “We have kept only one variant which is fully loaded. We believe that our customers would request for that kind of a product.” Image Source : http://bit.ly/pBpnPR Currently, the company is assembling the Koleos by importing the engine and transmission from France and South Korea which is costly. Renault has plans to localize the engine and transmission from next year which will help to cut the costs down. Nassif further said, “We have been India as an export base of components. We should cross the 60 to 70 million exports of components this year from India.” After the Fluence and Koleos, a small car based on the platform of Nissan Micra - Sandero will be launched in January next year. Further, the company will launch its right hand sport utility vehicle- Duster by the middle of next year with the price tag of Rs 10 lakh. By the end of the year a sedan is expected to be launched with the price between Rs 6-8 lakh.
