Porsche to manufacture Cajun SUV in LeipzigGerman luxury automaker Porsche plans to manufacture its all-new Cajun SUV in Leipzig, Germany. The company’s administrative board has come to a decision to build a full-fledged facility in Leipzig with body assembly and painting processes, in response to continued demand for its four-wheel drive models. The company stated that work on the 400 hectare (1,000-acre) location will start this year once they get approval from the local authorities and production is likely to begin by 2013. Porsche current site provides work for around 650 people who produce Cayenne SUVs and the new four-door Panamera model. Porsche chairman Matthias Mueller was quoted by AFP as stating that the decision to build the smaller Cajun in Leipzig was an evidence of confidence in the capacities of their employees, as well as a contribution to the district’s economic development.
