New SUV from Force Motors to be called ‘Force One’Mumbai, India: Home-grown automaker Force Motors said that its new sports utility vehicle to be launched in July will be called ‘Force One’. This will be the first passenger vehicle from the Pune based company which later plans to bolster its new range with the launch of an off-road jeep and a premium van by next year. Mr. Prasan Firodia, Managing Director - Force Motors said, “Force One will be launched in the next 30-40 days. It will have best-in-class legroom and reliability.” He said that in the first year the company would look to sell 4,000 units while in the second year it is targeting up to 9,000 units. Force One will be positioned between the entry and mid-range SUVs, pricing likely around Rs 12-14 lakhs. The new SUV features a 2.2 liter diesel engine and transmission licensed from Mercedes-Benz. The entry segment is marked by the Mahindra Scorpio and the Tata Safari, while the mid range SUVs are the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. The chassis has been tuned by Lotus Engineering, UK. Localization in the vehicle will be at 75%.
