D.C. council Kwame Brown involved in Lincoln Navigator scandalKwame R. Brown, the Washington D.C. Council Chairman discovers himself in spot over his preference of a work vehicle. In line with The Washington Post, Brown prearranged a fully-loaded Lincoln Navigator L on the district’s dime in advance of his January 2 inaugural ceremony, and just over a few eyebrows has been raised at the luxury SUV’s $1,900 is the lease payment for every month. Similar to the majority localities, our nation’s resources is facing a considerable budget loss this year – currently hovering at approximately $400 million. But it gets worse from there. Brown apparently ordered a black-on-black Navigator L for his personal use, and when the first vehicle arrived with a gray interior, he even insisted the problem be set right. Consequently, Washington D.C. is at the moment paying to lease two Navigator L models at $1,900 month each, and the one with the gray cabin it seems that can’t be returned until October. In addition, a dealer had to drive the inaugural ceremony vehicle from Coldwater, Michigan to Washington, D.C. at the asking price of $1,500. For the meantime Brown says that he never wished-for the vehicle to be a fully loaded with luxury SUV, and that he simply requested a black-on-black model. However, The Washington Post reports that emails acquired through Freedom of Information Act requests confirm that the fully-loaded vehicle was wanted as per Washington D.C. Council Chairman’s specifications.
