Blue TEC models and new GL-Class SUV models
Mercedes Benz had a campaign for its 2009 SUV and there it has offered three new cross over models in European market this year. The three SUV models are GL 350 Blue TEC 4MATIC, ML 350 Blue TEC 4MATIC and R 350 Blue TEC 4MATIC. These three models which are already offered in U S have diesel power plant and are equipped with latest Blue TEC technology.
Along with the Blue TEC technology all the models are on nitrogen oxides the new models are driven by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel generating 211hp at 3,000rpm and 540Nm of top torque from 1,600 to 3,400rpm.
Mercedes has come up with nitrogen oxides in order to cut down on emissions of diesel power plants. There is SCR catalyst system in which the ammonia converts up to 80 percent of the nitrogen oxides into nontoxic nitrogen and water.
The German car maker has claimed that all the three SUV models already meet the emissions requirements of the EU 6 standard, which will be put in place by 2014.
Looking at the fuel efficiency both the models GL class and ML class have an average rating of 8.7 liters per 100 km (27mpg) while the R class version which is bigger and heavier has the rating of 9.0 liter per 100 km (26.1mpg).
