The Fuel Economy number is the average combined number of miles a vehicle is able to travel using one gallon of fuel according to EPA simulated laboratory tests that consist of 45% highway and 55% city driving conditions.
For a vehicle model that has styles with differing Fuel Economy numbers, we display in the page header the range of values for those styles; only a single Fuel Economy number is displayed when all of the values are the same for that model's styles. A single Fuel Economy number is also displayed on the style-specific vehicle pages.
We display "N/A" (i) if the EPA has not yet published fuel economy data for a vehicle, and (ii) for all "heavy duty" vehicles, i.e., vehicles with a gross weight of more than 8,500 pounds (since they are not subject to fuel economy regulations and accordingly are not tested by the EPA).
