2010 Midsize SUV : Ford Edge

ford-edge

Ford’s second foray into the “sports utility vehicle” (SUV) market is the funky, stylish Edge. Debuted smartly in 2008 with James Bond’s film “Quantum of Solace.” Ford hasn’t made any sort of notable changes in the 2010 model. Fuel economy improves in the 265-hp V-6 by as much as 2 mpg in the city. The Ford Edge’s exterior has also established a few styling tweaks, and the five-seat SUV is now obtainable with a preference of three engines, including a new turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder.

Ford tweaked the aerodynamics and drive-train of all Edge models after which they get slightly better mileage than before. Otherwise, the Ford Edge still comes with two rows of seats and FWD or AWD. A new Limited interior package comes with Sienna leather seats, special stitching, dark brushed aluminum center stack, and unique floor mats. Regular security features consist of antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags for both rows, and an electronic stability system with Roll Stability Control.

Offered features comprise a backup camera, blind spot caution system and a collision-warning system. Even though the Edge is not a full size SUV, it is a heavy vehicle so the acceleration is modest, though adequate. Edge sport is high on style with modest substance and convincingly is a substitute to sporty SUVs such as the Mazda CX-7, but lacks the Nissan Murano’s overall classiness.
