2010 Midsize SUV : CADILLAC SRXAll-new design with freshened styling, smaller dimensions, and two new engine offerings, including a turbo V-6, marks Cadillac’s true entry into luxury SUV market. Cadillac has attempted, as several other producers have, to generate an SUV that combines the driving dynamics of a luxury vehicle with the all-weather capability and practicality of an SUV/Minivan. All-wheel drive is still an option, but the new establishment assures mileage enhancements and only a minor loss of passenger volume despite a decrease in the vehicle’s length. It’s still a midsize five-seater SUV, but it’s on a new front-wheel-drive platform, replacing the rear-drive version used from 2004 to 2009. As suitable for Cadillac’s vehicle the altitude of customary tools is high - powered hatchback, alloy wheels, satellite radio, OnStar and leather seats are just a few illustrations. On the preference list are Xenon headlights, heated seats and special wood trim and accents. Offered in FWD and AWD modes (the turbo is AWD only), SRX’s all-new bodywork features a real-time damping system. With an insistent look and rather hard suspension, the SRX is aimed at the sportier side of the “SUV” equation, though with the base engine, at least, doesn’t quite fulfill its performance promise. A well-apportioned interior and oodles of safety features round out this impressive package. The SRX competes with the Acura MDX, Lexus RX and Lincoln MKX in this SUV category.
