COMPACT SUV AUDI Q5 detailed review

Last week there was an announcement done and was highlighted in the news that “AUDI Q5 COMING TO INDIA IN JUNE 2009”. With the record growth in February 2009, Audi have decided to offer Q5 in the Indian market. Q5 is the youngest sibling of Q7 which will be different from the international version. Here is what the creative designer Gary Telaak has to say “While designing it, we have kept in mind the tradition of style, sportiness and luxuriance of Q series. Like other Audis it (Q5) is less rational and more emotional”.

In India the German luxury car maker’s “New Audi Q5 will be launched in JUNE 2009”. In Europe it was launched with 4 variants but in India it will be 2 only one would be with 3.0 liter TDI diesel engine and the other will be with 2.0 liter TFSI petrol engine. Currently Audi is selling only one SUV in India Q7 and the company has already sold around 350 units of Q7 here the highest in its segment. The reason for introducing it in India is that the company feels that there is additional market for smaller SUV’s and Q5 is going under homologation now and later will be sold as a Completely Built Unit. Other models available in India which are sold from twelve dealerships are the Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi Q7, Audi TT and Audi R8.

The Audi Q5 is tad smaller than the Audi Q7 which is also a SUV. This change is done because the German firm feels that there is a market for small SUV’s in India. This is well explained by a spokesperson from Audi in Ingolstadt he says, “The only SUV in India from our stable is Q7, which is doing tremendously well even in the present situation. But still some people favor a smaller SUV and because of this, we have decided to offer Q5 in the Indian market.”

I think it all depends on the price in India many automakers have tried hard to sell their models in India and failed terribly. India is the only country in world which can offer huge numbers if they get business right. I mean if they sell the Q5 for around 30,000 USD in India fixed price On road it will be the greatest hit because Indian consumer is unfortunately struck at Rs 10 Lakh budget they can sell more Q5 than Toyota Innovas if they can give it for around 10 Lakh rupees.

The models available in India which are sold from twelve dealerships are the Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi Q7, Audi TT and Audi R8. Aurangabad is an Indian hub to the companies group such as Volkswagen and Skoda. Audi assembles the Audi A4 and A6 at its Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra. Now Audi has plans to unveil its new models in India with the announcement made on March 10, 2009, Audi announced that it is planning to launch seven new models by 2010, in its Centenary year. It will start by launching its zero-emission SUV Q7 and A4 in the US and Europe, in 2009. By 2010, it will launch A1, A4 All road, A5 SB, A7, and R8 Spider. Audi has said that it may launch some of those models in India as well, but has not specified a time frame.
On 12th march, SONOMA, Calif the Audi of America, Inc and Emotive announced to the people of Washington, DC, Newyork, Chicago, Miamiand Los angeles the launch of Audi driving experience that gives the participants the opportunity to be the first to drive Audi Q5. It will begin in Washington, D.C. on April 3 and will conclude in Los Angeles on May 15.
