2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Overview.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is the automaker's entry in the extremely competitive compact sport utility vehicle category. The 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander does makes proper sense for SUV buyers who desire a sporty small-size SUV that can comfortably seat up to seven passengers and a good long warranty. Mitsubishi is trying everything possible to make it to the top with hard line styling drawn from the high-performance sedan and uncommonly sporty handling. The Outlander should attract all those buyers looking for a difference to the usual family-oriented sport utility.

The minor changes on the Outlander for 2011 are body-colored mirrors and door handles, roof rails, deep tinted privacy glass and audio steering wheel controls are now offered as standard equipment on all trims. The Mitsubishi Outlander does offer a more spacious, well-appointed cabin with user friendly controls. Though, a huge downside is the use of cheap materials. The Outlander's front occupants of all sizes will probably find the seats comfortable owing to the well-built seats, ample head- and legroom. The rear seats have somewhat less room, but an average-sized grown-up should be comfortable enough. There is plenty of cargo space in the Outlander as per the compact Sport Utility standards.

The Mitsubishi Outlander does seem similar to a compact SUV that’s just standard for 2011. The asking base price is about average, the fuel economy is quite standard and slight seems to set the Outlander apart from competitors. If you look a bit deep and you’ll observe the Outlander does have a number of features that the opponents don’t. It’s extremely sporty in its performance, ample of cargo room, can seat seven comfortably and long warranty set it apart. Furthermore the Outlander is one SUV you can drive to get your family around without giving up any adventures. Overall, the Outlander's interior is quite appealingly designed, despite the fact that there are cheap plastics all over the place. The Outlander's XLS and GT models are the finest of the lot.

Though when judged against other compact SUVs, the Toyota RAV4 is the Outlander’s closest opponent. Even though it isn’t as athletic as the Outlander, critics do like its advanced engines and good interior. The RAV4 can’t ever equal the Outlander’s warranty coverage do make note of that. Although the Mazda CX-7 costs just about $1,000 more than the Outlander and doesn’t have a third row, a number of critics say it has a few of the finest performance in this category. Plus it’s the interior that outshines the Outlander’s.

2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Pros:

  • Compact, athletic ride
  • Good cargo space
  • Long warranties

2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Cons:

  • Subpar interior materials
  • Uncomfortable optional third row
  • Weak base engine
