2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overview.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been entirely redesigned for additional comfort and style. In recent years there has been a sudden increase of mid-size SUV’s on the market and the Grand Cherokee has struggled to stay at the top of the sales listing. In an attempt to win back consumers, the new Grand Cherokee is jam-packed with current features and roomier than previous models.

The Grand Cherokee has a new suspension, refined sheet metal, new interior equipments, a new engine option and two new off-road systems. Plus, with a new large rear seat and optional streaming television, it becomes a possible family hauler. The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is available in three trim packages: Laredo, Limited and Overland. However, though it becomes somewhat more affordable this year, this Jeep is still an expensive one.

The Grand Cherokee’s fuel economy goes on with the disappointing estimates that the base two-wheel drive models will achieve 16mpg city and 23mpg highway, while 4WD models will reach up to 16/22. These figures are relatively low compared to most SUVs, even though they’re above average compared to wholly off-road vehicles.

There is no vehicle on the market that can actually match the off-road expertise of a trail-rated Jeep. But if you’re just concerned in spending less and can do without the Jeep’s classy off-road systems and upscale cabin, the Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Explorer will save you a few thousand dollars.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Pros:

  • Excellent off-road ability
  • Particularly good interior for an off-road vehicle
  • Wide range of high-tech features and options
  • Higher levels of rear-seat comfort for 2011

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Cons:

  • Small cargo capacity for its class
  • Poor fuel economy compared to crossover SUVs
  • Expensive for a midsize SUV
