2011 GMC Yukon Hybrid Overview.

Originally GMC launched its Yukon in 1992. GMC Yukon continues a long custom of sport utility vehicles of excellent performance and quality. With increasing gas prices and eco-protests, the market for large SUVs has seen better times. GMC answered the call for improved fuel economy with the 2008 by introducing Yukon Hybrid and XFE models. These deliver along with the finest in class city and highway EPA ratings respectively.

The 2011 GMC Yukon Hybrid is closely connected to the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid and the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid. All three have just about the same capabilities, although the Tahoe Hybrid has a lower price to some extent than the GMC, and the Escalade Hybrid has vaguely more luxurious. The Yukon Hybrid starts at approximately $13,000 more than the conventional Yukon.

2011 GMC Yukon Hybrid does not disappoint when it comes to performance in fact it has very similar performance capabilities to the traditional Yukon. The Yukon Hybrid is available in two-wheel or all wheel drive. Both these Hybrid models make use of a 6.0-liter V8 engine joined to a pair of 60-kilowatt electric motors placed inside an electrically variable transmission. For improved economy in driving on a daily basis Hybrid model which pairs a 6-liter gasoline V8 that switches off totally when not considered necessary and battery pack with double electric motors inside the transmission to add to inner-city fuel economy by 25-30%. On the whole most of the critics are impressed with by the system as it deliveries good acceleration and remarkable fuel economy for such a large SUV.

There isn’t much to distinguish the Yukon Hybrid from a conventional Yukon apart from the gadgets. Yukon will be available in three trim levels, will have two or four-wheel drive, and can seat either five to eight people. Seating in the first and second rows has sufficient room, but the third row is best to accommodate kids and has to be removed to manually to maximum cargo space.

For those who need a genuine four-wheel drive with good cargo room and towing capacity the Yukon Hybrid is a competitive choice. For SUV buyers who just wish to seat large numbers of people, and don’t plan on doing much towing, you can save money along with some gas by going for a full-size crossover SUV. If you like GMC, take a look at the GMC Acadia.  In addition do consider the Ford Flex. Both their price tags are a lot less than the Yukon Hybrid, can seat approximately as many people and get respectable gas mileage.
