2011 GMC Acadia Overview.

The 2011 GMC Acadia SUV is the perfect substitute for a minivan and though the price may seem a bit too steep, you still get seven or eight seating, huge cargo space and fuel efficiency beyond compare. For the year 2011, the SUV gets a brand new Denali trim which transports the Acadia into the likes of other luxurious SUVs. However, the SUV does come with an expensive price tag which could be too hot to handle.

“Never judge a book by its cover” goes well for the GMC Acadia and if you look at the exterior of the SUV, it might not look like it’s the best deal for you and the cost of going overboard in base price of $32,000 makes matters a bit complicated. The base price is the highest in its class and if you think you are going to benefit with unmatched fuel economy, think again. However, not everything goes downhill with this SUV and the GMC Acadia could have a few tricks under its sleeve to surprise you. The deeper you probe, you would find that the Acadia does provide great value, and cargo space is just the beginning of its list of goodies. The GMC Acadia seats more people and has more cargo room than its other competitors – the Acadia can live up to its image of being much more fuel efficient than other top-end SUVs which cost more and are worse in fuel efficiency.

Driving Impressions:

The 2011 Acadia is powered by a direct injection 3.6-liter V-6 with VVT that maximizes performance and fuel economy and reduces emissions - including 25 percent reduction in  cold start emissions. Engine performance is improved by providing advanced six-speed automatic. Maximum towing capacity is a class-leading 5200 pounds (2.364 kilograms).

A long, 118.9-inch (3021 mm) wheelbase and wide 67.28 inches (1709 mm) front and rear tracks to give it a lower center of gravity and allows a smoother ride and stable handling for riding comfort. Independent front and rear suspensions enhance the smoothness and provide a more responsive driving experience. The front suspension features a McPherson strut design with direct-acting stabilizer bar and aluminum joints, while the rear suspension uses a compact, state of the art related “H” design. Isolated mounting points help to reduce noise and vibration.

2011 GMC Acadia Pros:

  • Third Row fits the tallest adults with ease.
  • Top-Notch Cargo Space with all the seats in use.
  • Outstanding fuel economy for an eight-passenger SUV with car-like handling.

2011 GMC Acadia Cons:

  • - Reduced towing capabilities than GM’s other truck-based SUVs.
  • - Elevated Base Price for its class.
  • - Few Interior Materials are inexpensive and appear cheap.
