2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Overview.

The 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV was first launched a few years from the Millennium and was a late-comer to the already existing line-up of small SUVs. Like its contemporaries, the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV was designed like a car and handled well offering a comfortable ride on the pavement but had limited off-roading abilities. To stand out from the already crowded segment of smaller SUVs, Mitsubishi created the Outlander with a distinct style and a sporty outlook but when compared to other SUVs of its class, the Outlander models offered restricted interior space and the always-short-of-breath-engine was futile in boosting the Mitsubishi’s Sporty Image. These minor glitches were set right with the second-edition of the Mitsubishi Outlander SUV which was larger, had a third-row option and a V6 engine. However, even with these modifications, the second-generation Outlander failed to live up to its more successful competitors.

With the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander, the SUV has been completely refreshed including the new insistent styling, a completely new front end, revamped interiors plus the top-of-the-line Outlander GT model and Generation-Next Technology Impressions.

The 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV compact crossover SUV has been designed for 2010 with a novel front, completely invigorated interiors and with the preface of the top-of-the-line Outlander GT Model in addition with technology features for Generation-next.

The 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV Complete Review:

The fine list of changes in the designs make the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV a more of a car on the exterior and with fewer hardy SUV indicators and a sharp “jet-fighter plane” nose acquired from the Evo. Priced affordably, the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV is quite a normal-priced SUV and has fuel economy ratings which are also normal for an SUV of its class. Agreed, that the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV does have normal and ordinary-looking trims especially the base trim but the other trims make up for the loss of the first one. To begin with, the SE model is one of the few other compact SUVs which offer seven-passenger seating and secondly, all of the trims are offered with a prolonged 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Last but not the least, the latest-for-2010 GT model comes with V6 power and has a better sporty-driving experience.

Even with these positive aspects the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV does have its set of downfalls in the form of low-grade interior materials and not-so-powerful engine options like other competitors.

Body Styling, Trims and Other Options:

The 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV has been launched in four trim levels: ES, SE, XLS and GT. The ES and SE are powered by 168-HP 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, whereas the XLS and GT get a 230-HP 3.0-liter V-6 engine. The four-cylinder versions come with the regular CVT and the V-6 gets the traditional six-speed automatic. However both are available with manual-shift capacity and all of the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV trims can be bought in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The AWD system in the SUV is remarkable for its different configurations which provide the driver to choose 2WD for maximum fuel economy or 4WD Lock for maximum traction during slippery road conditions.

The base ES model comes with CD player, full power accessories, air conditioning, cruise control and a complete set of safety features. The SE adds 18-inch wheels, six-CD changer, keyless ignition and entry, steering-wheel-mounted-paddle shifters and fabric sport seats. The XLS is equipped with a third-row seat, chrome accents in the cabin, Fuse hands-free link system, voice-activated Bluetooth phone connectivity and automatic climate control. The top-of-the-range GT SUV models come with all of the above features and include xenon head lamps, aluminum pedals, a premium Rockford Fosgate sound system, exterior chrome trim, rain-sensing windshield wipers and satellite radio.

There are other options for the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV which are divided into packages and are inclusive of an upgraded audio system, leather upholstery, sunroof, hard-drive-based navigation system with real time traffic updates, power driver seat and front-seat heaters. However, the rear-seat entertainment package is an individual option.

2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Pros:

  • Sport-like performance and great handling particularly from the GT Model.
  • Lengthy list of warranties.
  • Innovative rear-tailgate design.

2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Cons:

  • - Meager-grade interior materials
  • - Not-so-strong Base Engine.
  • - Uncomfortable, optional third-row seat.
